Omagh Show - July 2007

Saturday 7th July saw the 167th Omagh show take place at the Tyrone Farming societies’ excellent show grounds in Omagh. The show was blessed with what was a comparatively good summer’s day given the weathers recent form!

allbed once again returned to the show and for the 2nd year sponsored the ‘The allbed NI Ridden Connemara Championship’.

This year’s class was won by Clare Brown Riding her Mother’s ‘Ceide Rose’. In reserve was Clare’s Mother Nicola riding ‘Craigmount Sparrow’. Interestingly as well as Clare being a mother and daughter team the ponies were a mother and son duo! Congratulations go to both on their success, with Clare winning the 1st prize of £50 as well as a pallet of allbed equine bedding for Ceide Rose’!

Prize money for the class was awarded up to fifth placed competitor and Marina Wray kindly sponsored rosettes again for the champion and reserve, as well as for the highest placed mare (Ceide Rose’) the highest placed young rider (Clare Brown) and the highest placed young pony (‘Craigmount Sparrow’). So all in all team brown had an excellent day!
Taking third place honours was Ballybawn Millar’ with Rebecca Irwin, but the RJ Monteith Perpetual Cup for the 2007 NI champion Connemara went to Clare Brown, and we’ll be back to see if Clare can retain her title in 2008!
