Castlewellan Show - July 2007

As many parts of Northern Ireland experienced yet more heavy rain on Saturday 14th July, Castlewellan Show was lucky enough to escape the worst of the weather and go ahead as planned.

Unfortunately the registered show jumping was a victim of the weather; the ground proving too soft under foot at Castlewellan resulted in the bulk of the equine competition being moved to Tyrella, which was unfortunate for the visitors to the show as they were denied the opportunity to see a great day competition.

Livestock competitions still went ahead as planned which all varieties of breeds paraded around the somewhat sticky rings as the ground suffered from the previous three days heavy rain.
Some of the visitors also found the ground hard going, some even loosing a shoe or two in the mud.
However, the event passed off successfully and the organisers say they have already started planning for next year's event – let’s hope they can arrange some sunshine as well!
